Send a Parcel to Oslo, Norway
Oslo is known as one of the nicest cities in the world to live in although it also is also one of the most expensive cities. It was founded about 1,000 AD and grew up as a trading city with a port that has grown in size to be the largest in Norway. The original wooden buildings had problems with fire and the city burnt down many times. Finally King Christian 1V rebuilt the city closer to the Akerhus Castle after the 1624 fire and the city was renamed from Oslo to Christiana and then Kristiana up until 1924 when the city reverted to its old name.
The city has some excellent public buildings with the Royal Palace, the Akerhus castle and the Christiana Theatre and many others but there are many glorious new buildings with the Opera House and the Astrup Fearnley Museum being excellent examples. The Norsk Folkemuseum has examples of old Norway buildings that is very fascinating.
The city has a total population of some 1.4 million in the full Metropolitan Area although the centre is about half that number. Norway is a lovely city and typical of the Scandinavian way of life. Even in Viking times this part of the world was dynamic and today is no exception with Norway doing well with its oil exploration and development. Oslo has some excellent teaching establishments and there is a very high level of education up to and including university level.
The city thrives as the commercial hub of Norway and parcel and packet deliveries are made with the high quality and quick service that is always expected in this part of the world. Paperwork is efficient and customs are approachable but a good carrier will give excellent quality service at very low prices. Being a free trade country with the UK for many years’ customs is simple if the paperwork is right.
