How long does it take to deliver to Italy?

Shipments to Italy typically take between 1 and 6 days, but obviously the speed of delivery depends on the type of service you select. Transit times for air shipments are generally quicker than shipments delivered by road, but they do tend to be slightly more expensive.

How much does it cost to send a parcel to Italy?

Prices start from just £9.99 for our cheapest service. But please don't think that "cheap" implies poor quality - we only work with couriers that provide a quality, reliable service. There are plenty out there that don't offer this, and we do not work with them to ensure we offer our customers the best service possible at a great price.

Do shipmentsl to Italy require customs paperwork?

Following Brexit, shipments to the EU require a commercial/pro-forma invoice. Find out more about changes following Brexit here.

When you book your shipment to Italy, you will need to enter the details of the items required for customs during the booking process and the customs information is then sent electronically to the couriers customs department, so you do not need to print or attach commercial invoices to your parcel to Italy. There is, however, a copy available to you in your  "My account" section of our website should you need it for any reason.

Can I send heavy parcels to Italy?

Yes, you are able to book parcels up to 500kg in weight through our website! If you need to send a parcel which is heavier than 500kg, please send us an email at [email protected] with your dimensions and weight and we will do our very best to accommodate your requirements.

Do WPS offer additional cover on shipments?

We provide £100 cover on all shipments sent through us as standard. This is included in the price you see when booking with us (subject to terms and conditions) but it is possible to add additional cover to your shipment, up to £10,000, for an extra cost.

Is it possible to use WPS to return my parcel from Italy?

Yes, we are able to return any parcels that have been sent from Italy, but please check first that the company you are returning it to doesn't offer their own service, as this may work out cheaper for you.

Is it possible to track my parcel?

Yes, we provide free tracking services on all of our parcel deliveries anywhere in the world! Simply enter the invoice number you receive after booking into our tracking form to see where it has been at every stage of its journey.

What labels should I attach to my parcel?

You must only use the labels we provide after making your booking, Please do not use any labels, or complete any form, brought in by the driver as this may result in your shipment being held up or even returned to you.

How can I protect extremely fragile items I am sending to Italy?

Fragile items should be individually wrapped in bubble-wrap so that they are not in direct contact with other items in the box, and the box should be tightly packed with polystyrene chippings to avoid movement within the box. Please read our packing guide for more top tips.

Customs and Duty

Before sending any parcel with Worldwide Parcel Services, make sure that you check our restricted & prohibited items list.

In addition to this list, you also cannot send the following to items in your packages to Italy:

  • Albums of any kind, including but not limited to photographic, postcard and postage stamp albums
  • Aerosols
  • Cartridges
  • Musical instruments
  • Footwear
  • Leather goods
  • Toys made from wood
  • Artificial flowers
  • Aftershaves, Perfumes

As with Spain, to import sanitary goods (including, but in no way limited to, shampoo, skincare products, and nappies) requires the receiver to hold an import license.

The Italian government have a comprehensive website covering all items relating to customs and importing goods into Italy which you may wish to read before sending your items.

Brexit

As you will be aware, the UK left the EU on the 31st December 2020. This means that there are some changes that you need to be aware of when sending a parcel to Italy.

One change is that all shipments from the UK to EU countries will require a commercial/pro forma invoice. When you book a parcel to Italy with WPS, we will automatically create these and send them electronically to the courier. If you are shipping as a business, you will need to provide your EORI number.

You will not be charged VAT by us when booking your shipments, however this and other fees may be payable by the receiver in the destination country. For more information about Brexit and what that means for your parcel, read our full guidance on sending parcels post-Brexit.
